The five greatest wonders from Down Under

Hollywood hottie Hugh Jackman is starring in a one-man show on Broadway beginning Tuesday October 25—the show will run till January 1, 2012. I know this because when I left the Shubert Theater earlier this week (after watching Adam Pascal), I saw this…
And it got me thinking, Australia is one great country.
Think about it. It has given us UGG boots, the words “mate” and “Crikey,” director Baz Luhrmann and really, really hot actors. And in honor of that (last) wonderful fact, I’ve decided to name—my list of—the top 5 hottest actors from the land of OZ.

5. ERIC BANA
Did you know Bana was Australian? I didn’t. But how lucky for us that he is, because Mr. Time Traveler makes the list!  Since coming to Hollywood, Bana has taken on his share of eclectic roles, including Bruce Banner in the 2003 film-flop Hulk, Henry VIII in The Other Boleyn Girl, Henry DeTamble in The Time Traveler’s Wife and Erik Heller in Focus Features’ Hanna. But he is probably best remembered for playing Nero, an angry Romulan seeking revenge, in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 hit Star Trek.

4. JULIAN MCMAHON
The devil makes the list. Well, he’s not really the devil, but he did play mean ass demon- Cole on the WB (now PIX) hit show Charmed. I don’t know about you, but I’d cross over to the dark side if he asked me to.

3. HEATH LEDGER
Heath Ledger may have lost his life in 2008 but his work continues to inspire, and that’s why he comes in at number three. Who can forget his singing “Can’t take my eyes off of you” in 10 Things I Hate About You? Or his dancing—and jousting skills—in A Knights Tale?  I know there’s no way anyone can forget him as Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain. And need I even mention his portrayal as the Joker in The Dark Knight? His depiction of the psychotic, murdering clown garnered him an onslaught of critical acclaim, fan adulation and a number of posthumous awards including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

2. HUGH JACKMAN
The Aussie who inspired the list, Hugh Jackman is quite literally the embodiment of perfection. The man can sing, dance, act, adores his wife, seems like an all-around nice guy and he looks amazing with his shirt off. What isn’t there to love about him? To top it off he’s frickin’ Wolverine.

And finally, the hottest Aussie of all…
1. CHRIS HEMSWORTH
That’s right, the God of Thunder takes top prize. With his hammer, insanely good looks and perfect smile, how could he not be number one? I don’t know about you, but this Aussie could generate some thunder in my neck of the woods any day.

  1. Great choices! I wouldn’t mind seeing Hugh Jackman on Broadway but have you seen the ticket prices? Will have to content myself with his movies and interviews. 🙂

    • The prices are SICK! A co-worker of mine managed to score tickets. Hopefully she’ll fill me in on it. I’m sure it’ll be recorded at some point though.
